In this hour of crisis, anxiety and suspense, it has seemed that there are certain things which you would do well to remember, and certain thing which you should endeavor to do. pg. 79
Again, just a reminder, Master D. K. is referring to the drama of WWII that is playing out in Europe, Asia and even the Pacific Islands (Japanese invasion). In 1939 the USA had not as yet entered the theater of war - although they were supplying England with ammunition, planes and equipment while working with the allied forces behind the scenes. It was not until the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the sinking of American ships in the harbor that we entered directly into the battle. The hour of crisis continued until 1945 when the allied forces finally won the war. Meanwhile many people of all races were killed, maimed and held in concentration camps while whole cities, towns and great centers were destroyed. He is reminding His students of the role they must play during this crisis throughout the world.
The first thing, therefore, of which I would like to remind you is thatThe Hierarchy stands. Behind all that is going on today, the same group of spiritual Forces and the same Elder Brothers and Masters are to be found as heretofore, guiding humanity along the path of life and bringing us safely and satisfactorily to our present point of development. The Buddha, Whose festival we are celebrating, and the Christ, Who expresses to us the unchanging love of God, are still with us, and the Hierarchy stands as a bulwark of strength between us and possible disaster; this center of spiritual life is "like the shadow of a great rock in a weary land". pgs. 79-80
According to Cosmic Law, the Hierarchy cannot interfere with the free will of people on planet Earth. However, towards the end of WWII, there was such an outcry of pain and suffering from mankind, that once again the Forces from Shamballa intervened and aided in bringing about the end of this terrible war - brought about from hate and hate creation especially towards the Jewish people as well as many European leaders. The Hierarchy can inspire and guide Humanity when they make the call - the call compels the answer - therefore, many prayers were answered and much help came from both the Hierarchy as well as the Archangels, K-17 and the Secret Service (Who worked in a physical body at that time).
The second thing I would have you all remember is that mankind has marched steadily forward from a state of blind ignorance and unawareness to one of an intelligent preoccupation with life and a growing sense of responsibility. This sense of responsibility, which is awakening in all of you is-on its present large scale-relatively new and is one of the factors definitely increasing the distress and pain you are all feeling. You ask yourselves, where, as a race, have we failed and what can we do to rectify our mistakes? In spite of everything, however, men have gone from stage to stage of intelligent and spiritual unfoldment and no matter what the outer happenings have been or may be, the race has made real progress. There has been no turning back and there will be none. Mankind has weathered many storms and survived many difficulties; men have emerged from periods of crisis better and stronger, purified "so as by fire" and definitely nearer the goal. pg. 80
The word responsibility is key here, as prior to this, most of mankind were still working from the reptilian brain in survival mode for family and sustenance. According to the Hierarchy many among mankind since the end of the eighteenth century had received an awakening - a "spark" of light within the brain that opened them to a greater awareness and expansion of consciousness. At this time, during this great crisis, much of mankind moved rapidly through this great force of energy playing out in the battlefields of both Europe and Asia. Remember there were also those great thinkers and intellectuals of older Root Races who were still present and assisting in the war efforts as well.
When the Master D. K. speaks of us becoming intelligent, responsible and loving individuals as we progress from stage-to stage along our homeward journey, we must now awaken to the fact that much of our expansion of consciousness occurred when under great crisis and duress; it is during this "forcing of energy" period that mankind has made its greatest leap forward in a very short period of time. Notice that He reminds us that wars not only cause great heartache, pain and death, but they also bring about major purification-when our souls cry out and we once again look for the why and how's of the situation. It is a path froth with thorns as we march ever forward on our homeward path; but remember that it is our own free wills that have placed us in the path of our enemies. Because part of our learning curve is to STOP Hating, STOP being abusive to others and STOP being prejudice to others. These crisis have all happened through selfishness, greed and desire to covet that which is not ours. The Mayans have a wheel and within that wheel it shows how mankind rushes out to kill, conquer and destroy all in order to gain that which they desire - they see it as a very masculine inclination. Once the spoils have been taken over, the feminine aspect is what nurtures the spoils of war and its people into a more civilized society - this they claim happens in cyclic regularity.
I would remind you also of the integrity and solidarity of the human family. We are one people-one in our relationships, and capacities and desires, our origin and our goal. It is this essential and recognizable integrity which is emerging at this time powerfully in the human consciousness. You are apt to think that this may not be so, that your positions in believing this is somewhat unique and that you stand somewhat alone. But this is your error and is not true to the facts of the case. In every land and among widely differing peoples, the same desire exists for understanding, for the establishing of right and peaceful relations, and for expression of that basic goodwill which is one of the deepest human characteristics and our divine inheritance. pgs. 80-81
We are all aware of the "opening of our hearts" when a crisis arises anywhere in the World, whether it's due to tornadoes, hurricanes or any natural disasters, war or pandemics, we're ready and able to give food, medicine, money and provide all those suffering with the necessities of life - too bad that this doesn't occur on a regular basis. Yet mankind has progressed to where we are seeing a significant increase in humanitarian agencies cropping up all over the world in order to aide those who are in crisis - I say this is a remarkable improvement and awareness of those in dire need. Now more than ever we, the NGWS, need to work especially on the God qualities of "peace on earth and goodwill to ALL mankind". We also need to let go of old learned prejudices no matter how seemingly harmless and formulate within ourselves a love of all mankind, all animals, the earth and the elemental kingdoms. We were given the responsibility as "caretakers" for this beautiful planet. This responsibility involves all of the three (3) lower kingdoms that have been sorely neglected and right now, more than ever, need our support and attention to relieve them of the great burden mankind has placed upon them. A couple of dollars sent to the local charities should replace those material things that we are now giving up in order to form a more perfect union with our souls. In fact, most charities will send a loved one and/or friend a note indicating that a donation was sent in their names for some special occasion such as birthdays, anniversaries or Christmas giving.
Remember, that people all over the world did not have social media, TV and the internet in 1939-1945. They did have the radio and would listen to the world news especially during this intense situation; yet, they didn't feel that the world was a great place to abide at that particular time. During this period, everyone throughout the world was in constant fear that a bomb would drop at any moment. Even though we didn't lose our homes and lives here in the continental USA, many of our fathers, brothers, friends and family members lost their lives oversees, as was evident in countless number of homes who hung the remembrance banner in their windows. People in our communities grew ever closer: the normal hates and prejudices were put aside; everyone collected bonds to help the war effort; women went to work doing men's jobs; people went out to the orchards and fields to help with the harvest while earning the right to take home some of the bruised fruit and vegetables; and people checked on the elderly and welcomed refugees from other war-torn countries. Why is it that it takes a disaster or war to open our hearts and minds to our responsibility to love our brothers as ourselves? This is what the Master was pointing out to His students back in the day. Yet, it wasn't five years later 1950 when war once again war broke out in Korea. Then came Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, the Middle East the "cold war" and the current crisis in Ukraine. What does it take before we all wake up to the fact that we are all sons and daughters of the most High God? I think the answer is two things - First, there are still many among mankind who have remained in ignorance to the incoming new energies that force mankind to make the necessary changes in their lives, while the second would be the influence of the Dark Forces upon those souls who are still in the reptilian minds and who through their own desires have aligned themselves with evil - the so-called dictators and authoritarians who still hold much of mankind in bondage today.
These are the things which, it seems to me, are important at this time, and which all of us would do well to remember. Will you try to do so? No matter what may take place in the world-whether war or peace, strife and aggression or understanding conciliation and conference-we face a difficult period of adjustment, and for this we must be prepared. The next three years are critical, and this we have often been told. pg. 81
The next 3 years He speaks about we will conclude is 1939 to 1942. This was a very serious and dire period in the history of our world and the Master is asking His students if they can maintain a positive and loving attitude while praying for peace and goodwill everywhere in the world. I was a small child in 1942, yet my memories were of darkened curtains with black oilcloth in the windows, of my elder cousins going off to war and of automobiles having the tops of the head lights painted black so that at night the beam would stay close to the road and not shine upwards in case of bombers coming over. Unknown to us living in Maine, years after the war, farmers along our Northern Coastline found caves with fuel cans stored there by the Germans and my Father working at the Portsmouth Naval Yard came home to tell us that a German Submarine was sunk off the Isle of Shoals a few miles from Portsmouth Naval Station. The Bridge of Freedom books told of the Archangels sealing both of our Coastal Shores with all of their angels. Of note, K-17 was in embodiment and actively working with other agencies in repelling the Nazi aggression. The Hierarchy were very much working with us as much as Cosmic Law would allow, and They were vital in overturning the Dark Forces that actually took up residence in the forests surrounding much of Germany at that time. When my sister was flying for Pan Am Airways in 1961 they were still finding Japanese military hiding in the Philippines.
Again, the Master D.K. asked the question "Will you try to do so?" In every circumstance, He points out that whatever is happening on the street, in the nation and around the world, the NGWS must maintain an open and positive attitude-holding on to the understanding that this to will pass; but while embedded within the chaos of war and rumors of war, the disciples must hold the line, become the bridge, the mediator between Hierarchy and Humanity.
Much will depend upon what you and all men of goodwill and disciples think and what they do. I would like to remind you of another most encouraging thing, and that is that the power wielded by those who are seeking to live as souls and in touch with the soul and the world of spiritual realities is out of all proportion to their registered sense of power and usefulness. You are, as you endeavor to wield spiritual force constructively and selflessly, far more potent than you realize. If you add to this realization the recognition that you are not alone in this, but that people with a vision similar to yours and with the same ideals and spiritual aspiration are to be found in every country without exception of any kind, in every religion, group and organization, then indeed you can go forward with courage and with hopeful faith. If this is a statement of fact (and I believe it to be so) then let us go forward in unison with our brothers everywhere, conscious of opportunity, of strength, of responsibility and of the joy of service. pg. 81
You can imagine the anxiety and fear that most people were under during this crisis period (1939-1945) when the world was ablaze with bombs, tanks, rockets and armies in almost all of Europe and much of Asia. The Master gives His disciples and all who would be intelligent enough to read His words, that they were definitely not alone and that there were people everywhere in the world holding the light of service to all mankind, with love, peace and goodwill in their very souls. A reminder here, that He again mentions that it is the disciple and aspirant who remains true to the tenants of the Ancient Wisdom, staying in the soul and working with others throughout the world from the soul, connecting as one potent force against those forces of evil. He gives His students the realization that it is at this level of soul-awareness that the true work can be done in moving mountains and at the same time keeping the individuals free from fear and doubt that was in most everyone's hearts and minds at that time. Today many of mankind are still living under great tension and fear, and we can attest to the fact that a great many of mankind all over the world are rising to the soul level of their beings in response to the "call to action" by Hierarchy - as once again we are all being put through the initiation of our spirituality vs materialism, in other words, the world of illusion vs the world of spiritual expansion of consciousness in order to move quickly into the new age.
As regards some of the things which you can do, I would suggest the following. Refuse to allow yourselves to be swept by any fear psychosis or to be stampeded into any attitude through which the anxiety and unrest and distress in the world can overwhelm you. Strive to stand in spiritual being. Each morning in your meditation, seek to take that attitude with a new and fresh definiteness and to hold it during the hours of service which lie ahead each day. This will not be an easy thing to do, but it can be done if you can get quiet for five minutes each morning-completely and interiorly quiet - and if you fill your days with vital occupation and true service, guarding with care all thought and speech. pgs. 81-82
Notice here where the Master tells us: "meditate only 5 minutes each morning", "Strive to stand in spiritual being..." "having a definite purpose during meditation to remain in spiritual being throughout the day". These are the keys to success and to remaining steadfast on the path no matter what is going on outside of us (these things we cannot change at the moment but our constant loyalty to our own souls and monads will make us a potent force against all odds). Today we are able to meditate much longer and at a soul level that connects us to all others in the field of spiritual awareness, can you imagine now where this particular soul-force can bring about change not only on a personal level, but within our Nation and the entire World. This all started back over eighty years ago when Hierarchy brought forth through Master D. K., "the ten seed groups".
Between now and the Wesak Festival in 1940 let each of you gain that control of speech which has often been your goal but seldom your achievement, and remember that the most powerful factor in the control of speech is a loving heart. Wild and fearful talk, hateful gossip, cruel innuendos, suspicion, the ascribing of wrong and wicked motives to persons and peoples, and the divergences of attitude which have separated the many different nations in the world are rampart today and have brought the world to its present distressing situation. It is so easy to drift into the same habits of speech and thought which we find around us and to discover ourselves participating in attack and the spirit of hate. Guard yourselves strenuously against this and say nothing which could inflame hate and suspicion in connections with any race, any person, any group or any leaders of groups and nations. You will have to guard yourselves with care, so that even in defense of that which you may personally or nationally approve you do not find yourselves full of hate and breaking the law of love-the only law which can truly save the world. Perhaps the key toyour success along this line will bethe silence of a loving heart! pg. 82
"Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself" comes to mind immediately. When I was a teenager, I remember hearing something bad about someone else in our town and rushed home to tell my Mother. She would look at me with those beautiful grey eyes and tell me: "Margaret Mary you will stop right now speaking about anyone negatively. Who knows what will happen in your life in the future. In the meantime, I suggest you make friends with this poor soul who has no one to befriend her- go and make her feel welcome". I was fortunate to have a Mother who did much love and service for all those she came in touch with. I have been talked about and have had to keep my consul, whether it was because of my being divorced at a young age or whether I became a student of the Arcane Knowledge, I was treated with disdain, even from my own family; and I had to remain quiet and loving towards those who were still asleep and not awakened to the love of the soul. This is one of the hardest initiations an aspiring student has to pass through, especially when it comes to family and close friends. Meanwhile, the Master has given us something to work on for the immediate future - "Try, try, try as St. Germain always reminds us" and pray, pray, pray for the patience and capacity to love all life free. This is the shortest path to the heart of God.
It will be good also to cultivate the joy that brings strength. This is not the time for gloom, despair or depression. If you give way to these, you become negative and destructive focal points in your environment. If you truly believe that the spiritual life is fundamental in the world today, if you do believe that divinity guides the world, if you truly grasp the fact that all men are your brothers and that we are all the children of the One Father, and if you are convinced that the heart of humanity is sound - are these not adequately potent ideas to hold us joyously steady in the midst of a changing world?
Will you, therefore, carry with you the following ideas?
First, that the Hierarchy of spiritual Forces stands in spiritual Being.
Second, that we too can stand steady in spiritual Being.
Third, that the silence of a loving heart should be our keynote for the coming year.
Fourth, that strength to stand is the result of a joyous attitude and a true orientation to the soul . pgs. 82-83
Again, the appeal from Hierarchy through the Master Teacher is that we adhere and carry forth with the above 4 ideas. The same appeal is being sent forth to all students of the Ancient Wisdom to work in silence with loving hearts - that we stand as a bridge between Hierarchy, Humanity and the Three Lower Kingdoms and that we remember we are never alone and that Hierarchy depends upon us to mediate between Them and Humanity as to laying the groundwork for the Externalization of the Hierarchy, the Reappearance of the Christ and the lowering of the New Jerusalem in to the atmosphere of Earth bringing the 1,000 years of Peace on Earth and Goodwill to all mankind.
